Archive & Research

Local History

The Crawford County Historical Society’s archive facility in the Tarr Mansion contains an extensive and diverse array of on-site resources to help families, students, academics, companies, and local history enthusiasts connect with the past. The archive has both first and second-source materials available as well as family, municipal, and corporate histories, various documents, directories, records, cemetery listings, photo collections, local newspapers and more.

Research Tools

See the Archive Materials page [Link to Archive Research Materials] for detailed information on on-site resources.

Patrons have access to microfilm readers with printing capabilities and laptops outfitted with library editions of Ancestry.com and Newspapers.com.  These tools combined with our archival materials [Link to Archive Research Materials] and online resources [Link to Online Research Resources page] can aid in a rewarding search experience.  Review the Research Requests page [Link to Online Research Requests page] if you’d like assistance with archive materials related to your project in advance of visiting. Fees may apply.

Outside of the society’s archive are a number of other research facilities, heritage sites, and lineage societies. We have listed these under the Local and Regional Resources [Link to Local and Regional Resources page] and Lineage Societies sections [Link to Lineage Societies page] of our site for your convenience.
